I have been invited to contribute to the Digital Design Weekend at the V&A as part of the London Design Festival 2016. My ongoing project Polyphonic Futures investigates the notion of bio-digitality, enabled by the smart material silk. The project stems from a long-term collaboration with Tufts University (MA, USA), London-based Arts Catalyst and Imperial College. Funded by the AHRC as part of The Creative Exchange (CX).
During the exhibition, the public was invited to participate in one of the eight workshops I offered per day. Interested visitors were able to register for a slot to then contribute their individual "bio-digital future" to the evolving online platform. Polyphonic Futures is a growing ideas laboratory with the intent to democratise innovation making and technological pathway definition processes — it connects biomaterial science with collectively generated, speculative futures.
This years' Digital Design Weekend attracted over 24.000 visitors over two days and coincided with the London Design Festival at the V&A as part of the V&A Engineering Season.
