TEACHING — Central Saint Martins (CSM), MA Art Science program, 24th Feb 2016 A day of teaching for the MA Art Science students, under the theme "Transient Interfaces — Designing for Transience".  I will present silk and its historical notion as network agent, and suggested ways in how such ‘networks’ and ‘infrastructures’ might take shape when bodies are being turned into digital platforms. The day consists of a morning session with lecture and group discussion, followed by a practical hands-on seminar in the afternoon. ▶ Pictures of the seminar can be found on Flickr.

EXHIBITION — Victoria & Albert Museum, London, 24th & 25th Sep 2016

I have been invited to participate in this years' Digital Design Weekend at the V&A.

My project Polyphonic Futures investigates the notion of bio-digitality through exploring the smart material silk. The project stems from a long-term collaboration with Tufts University (MA, USA), London-based Arts Catalyst and Imperial College. Funded by the AHRC as part of The Creative Exchange (CX).

The public participated through workshops and contributed to the evolving online platform — a growing collection of speculative futures on bio-digital (body) interfaces.

This years' Digital Design Weekend attracted over 24.000 visitors over two days and coincided with the London Design Festival at the V&A as part of the V&A Engineering Season.

CONFERENCE — Design Research Society conference, Brighton, UK. 27th– 30th Jun 2016 Our conversation proposal "Plans and Speculated Actions" got accepted for DRS2016 — the 50th Anniversary Conference of the Design Research Society, to take place in the Brighton Dome. Together with Dan Lockton, I developed a conversation format concerning the designer's agency, the sense-making process, and complexity in the context of speculative design and design for behaviour change. Together with our fantastic catalysts Dr Molly Steenson, Dr Tobie Kerridge, and Gyorgyi Galik, we're working towards an exciting session. ▶ We already look forward to the exchanges in Brighton this summer!

KEYNOTE — DRS 2016, Brighton Dome, 28th Jun 2016.

As part of the opening ceremony of the Design Research Society conference this year, I have been invited by Prof Cameron Tonkinwise to give a keynote debate on the topic “(Speculative) Futures in Design Research”, alongside with Prof Ramia Mazé and Prof Richard Coyne. My debate talk with the title "Speculative Subtlety", focused on Speculative Critical Design (SCD) and its capacity to traverse limits of existing knowledge systems by drawing attention to the boundaries of the certain. My keynote stressed in particular the importance of subtlety in the use and understanding of Speculative Critical Design as an evolving stance and design practice.

TEACHING — Royal College of Art (RCA), MA Textiles program, 22nd Jan 2016 ‘TEST BED 4 – Textiles as an Interface’ is the fourth in a series of four events exploring the nature of the discipline, new contexts for Textiles, the impact of new materials, new ways of thinking and research projects within the Programme. We explore the role Textiles can play as an interface — from the traditional example being the interface between ourselves and our environments through the clothes that we wear, to advanced materials and their shifting implications for society. This RCA internal seminar will be lead by myself and Dr Dan Lockton, (Visiting Research Tutor, IDE) and will take place in the Upper Gulbenkian Gallery. ▶ Pictures of the seminar can be found on Flickr.
